New homes in Hollister range from one or two bedrooms to four or five and from townhouses to single-family homes.
Hollister was founded in 1872 by ranchers and farmers and was named after Colonel W.W. Hollister. Hollister is responsible for driving the first flock of sheep across the continent and obtaining the San Justo grant which is the location of Hollister.
Today, the city has become one of California’s fastest-growing communities and has a population of over 34,000 (as of the 2000 census). In 2000, there were almost 10,000 housing units in the community.
Hollister has a mixture of newer and older homes. The community is filled with good schools and a variety of parks, including Pinnacles National Park, Hollister Hills State Recreational Area, San Justo Reservoir and Thousand Trails Campground. So those who love the outdoors and want to live in an area that puts them close to their passion will love all Hollister’s parks.
One aspect of Hollister is quite unique, something most cities in the country do not have: a sister city, Takino Town, Japan. All this began for Hollister in the spring of 1989 when the City Council got a letter form Takino Town asking if the city would be interested and the council thought it was an excellent idea. The program functions by delegations from Takino coming to Hollister in even-numbered years and Hollister delegates (who pay their own way) going to Takino in odd-numbered years.
This is just one thing that makes Hollister unique and may make Hollister new homes interesting to many people. Hollister new homes contain a great variety of types and styles of home for interested parties to look into.
